Vienna Design Week 2013
Onclaude's founder Maria Serra has been invited to contribute to Vienna Design Week, Austria's largest design festival and actually one the most vibrant design event in Central and Eastern Europe.
Saturday the 28th of September Maria will give a talk at the Festival's Laboratory, an experimental area where a multidisciplinary group of emerging communication and product designers are invited to develop an on-site project.
This year's laboratory is called "Idea Reloaded" and investigates how good ideas can be generated through a collective process thanks to new collaborative tools such as crowdsourcing.
The talk is scheduled at 6pm at Festivalzentrale, the Festival center in Argentinierstraße 11. The venue, a former school building, is located in the 4th Viennese District (the Wieden). All events will take place in this area this year (between Karlsplatz and the future Central Train Station).
The Design Week starts on the 27th of September and goes on until the 6th of October. It celebrates design in all its forms as an essential part of our culture, inviting designers and manufacturers, as well as the general public, to actively participate. As in the previous editions, there will be a focus on future urban mobility and social design & public action with a dedicated symposium at the Viennese University of Applied Arts.
Among this year's partners is Erste Bank, sponsor of a project developed in cooperation with Caritas Vienna; Nespresso, which offers a 15.000 euro scholarship to young designers (submissions by the 13th of September, find more information here); the Swiss watch manufacturer Rado, which is also launching a Young Design Competition. Renault will be offering a free shuttle service from one Festival location to the next.
