Sharing Energy in the City, 2030
What will be the best way to share energy in the city in 2030?
EDF (Electricité de France), in partnership with Dassault Systèmes and APCI (Agence pour la Promotion de la Création Industrielle), challenges interdisciplinary teams with varied backgrounds, from engineering to human and social science to design, architecture, urbanism and business, to develop and prototype innovative products, services or systems which improve energy production and sharing practices in the urban landscape.
Participants are invited to submit their innovative projects by March 3rd, 2014 (e.d. extended to March 31) in one of these two categories:
Innovative Solution: a project that is already sufficiently advanced to be developed as a prototype;
Collaborative Research: a project presenting a conceptual solution or a demonstration of a concept that needs to be developed further in the context of a partnership with one or more research laboratories.
All Projects must provide an actual improvement to an existing situation and should be able to be tested in real conditions within two years. They should demonstrate the value of the energy exchange and the improvement made to "better collective living".
In April 2014, an international jury will select the finalist projects. A prize of 5,000 euros will be awarded to the best finalist project in the "Innovative Solution" category and another prize of 1,000 euros will be awarded to the best finalist project in the "Collaborative Research" category. Work experience (in the form of internships or research assignments) may be offered by EDF or its partners.
As a first step, candidates are invited to join the Sharing in the City community and create interdisciplinary teams.
